Disaster Dash was the first project I worked on when I started at Budge Studios in 2016. I was on the project for a few months before switching over to Budge World. Disaster Dash is a fast-action runner game, where you control various Transformers Rescue Bots to outrun disasters, save citizens, and chase down enemies. I was one of the Unity developers on the project, implementing many of the VOs and sound effects, some visual effects, and a few of the playable characters and their abilities. It was my introduction to a lot of the tools that Budge Studios uses, and was definitely a good primer for the rest of my work there.
Things learned from Disaster Dash:
Disaster Dash was the first time I’d worked on a game that was already in progress when I joined the team. It was a good learning experience to go through and learn a code base that I didn’t have a part in creating, and I got up and running with it in no time.
I got to work very closely with a game designer for a lot of the visual and sound effects I implemented, and it was nice to be able to get near-instant feedback on stuff right as I was putting it in the game.
It was a lot of fun to be able to work with real Transformers characters!
